Bolen Updates Cincinnati-Area Aviators on FAA Reauthorization

Business aircraft operators and handlers from three states met in Cincinnati, OH on Sept. 18 to focus on working together as an industry, and NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen was on hand to provide an update on Washington, DC regulatory and political developments. Bolen discussed aircraft emissions and climate policy, unmanned aircraft systems and FAA reauthorization at the second annual Cincinnati Business Aviation Symposium (2015CBAS), which was held at Northern Kentucky University and hosted by Reynolds Jet. “We talked at length about the proposal to privatize America’s air traffic control system and fund it with user fees, and the profound ramifications that would have on our industry,” said Bolen. “There are serious potential threats to business aviation access at airports and airspace under a privatized system,” Bolen added. “The most efficient way for business aviation to pay its share of aviation system costs is through the proven and effective fuel tax.” Bolen’s participation in the symposium is the latest in a series of visits across the country by NBAA senior leaders to report on the Association’s advocacy work. In addition to sharing information about NBAA’s efforts in Washington, DC, Bolen called on everyone in the industry to be advocates for business aviation. “It was fantastic to have Ed Bolen here, giving an up-to-the-minute report on the industry,” said Tim Stanley, Reynolds Jet’s vice president of business development. “All the attendees responded to the message that every voice matters.” Event attendees included FAA representatives and Phil Boyer, former president of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Bolen paid tribute to Boyer for his many contributions to aviation during...
